I'm a new Sailor Moon fan, slowly falling in love with the show. I have to say I was blown the fuck away when I saw LESBIANS. Such a cute couple that transcends space and time.

The first time I saw them it, literally felt like it was the first time I saw gay people
I was so shook.
That they’re lowkey the most stable characters in the show and that they’re universally accepted is so incredible to see.
Finally lesbians that aren’t like dysfunctional and cringey and like there for some sort of misogynistic comedic relief.
They break gender roles and expectations while representing very different, yet such strong iterations of femininity.
It’s giving me the very best of that gen x radical feminist dykes and I’m grateful to have always had Sailor Moon in my life- like I was obsessed as a little kid and then didn’t watch it again until I was a grown gay. Now I can’t stop.
But I will digress.

I'm late to the party here but Haruka was gender for me when I was a kid--I rewatch (at least partially) every couple years, and it always gets me how good they are together.

I'm late to the party here but Haruka was gender for me when I was a kid--I rewatch (at least partially) every couple years, and it always gets me how good they are together. I was watching Sailor Moon with my 15 year old cousin and she see saw Haruka come on the screen and yells "Who's that! She's hot!" my bestie and I were bit caught off guard haha but Haruka is all we aspire to be. Tough, butch, but sweet with her lady. |

gradientslug ur right on time to the party, perhaps **in true Haruka style** fashionably late, but who doesn't love a dramatic entrance? Have you seen Sailor Moon Crystal? I usually will only watch things from like pre-2000's - I love the original cartoon, but I actually like Sailor Moon Crystal. And I love how they navigate Haruka's gender and their relationship in it.

gradientslug Agreed! I love that ur into 80’s/90’s anime because when I ask ppl for recommendations they’re always too modern for me. I just prefer the aesthetic and I like the music too, sailor moon really got some bops. not to take away from queerhauntings ’s thread but if you got any recommendations I’m really here for them. I’d reply but I’m only good for silent film recommendations.
