hey y'all! i love listening to new music, and i thought a song rec thread would be a nice way to get a peek into one another's music tastes—but to make things a little more fun, we'll add a game twist to it! the rules are simple: - the name of each song you post has to start with the last letter of the previous song posted.
- for example: Bohemian Rhapsody (Queen) → You've Lost That Lovin' Feelin' (The Unrighteous Brothers)
- in case there are regional issues with a youtube video, or in case the video is taken down later on, make sure to include the song title and artist outside the embed—this way there isn't any confusion!
- if you'd like to specify your preferred genres as a guide for the next participant, you can, but there won't be any strict requirements for making sure the songs you post fit other people's tastes! i'm making this thread primarily in mind for sharing what each of us like as individuals, not just for making offerings to others ^_^
- there is no strict turn order!
i'll go first! (and slightly out myself as a country enjoyer, lol—though i'm sure that's no surprise to hear) In Dreams - Sierra Ferrell (the next song should start with "s"!)

not really a fan of country, but wouldn't mind listening to this if it was on the radio! Now, here's a more serene tune from the far reaches of the Ultraworld (i'm lucky to own the deluxe version of the album on CD!)Star 6 & 7 8 9 - The Orb (the next song should start with a 9, but if numbers are too hard then you can do an R)

this is really lovely!!! serene is such a perfect word to describe this track; it served as excellent background noise for myself to focus on some writing i had been struggling with today. i've got to add this to a personal playlist for later listening, it's calming with just the perfect amount of additional erratic noise and musical changes to prevent things from getting too monotone in the ol' noggin ♪(´▽`) thanks so much for sharing! i had internally planned to not post a song in response to the first reply, since i wanted to give others the space to jump in if they wanted without feeling any sort of pressure to be quick about it, but i just had to post this song given the opportunity with 9 o(* ̄▽ ̄*)ブ here's an anti-war 80s pop classic! 99 Luftballons - NENA there's an official english version of the song available here, titled a stylised translation ("99 Red Balloons" rather than "99 Air Balloons"), as well as a cover by goldfinger, which is what i was more familiar with at a younger age. (the next song should start with... another s? whoops!)

Oh snap Crow I just followed that group today on Insta! They showed up in my algo and I waas like these look like some badass chicks. Fate has brought them even closer!!
Okay to carry on this chain I picked the Nirvana Nevermind hidden track Endless Nameless. I remember the first time I heard this song, it would play a few minutes after the last song ended. My CD player had been bumping Nevermind and I left the room after it ended, out of nowhere I hear this loud grumbling noise and was honestly terrified. I had no idea where or what this noise was....I walked into the room and realized it was some random Nirvana song!!! Felt like Kurt communicating from the afterlife. Also not all CDs had this hidden track, something that's fun about CDs and an experience we don't really get anymore. So happy to continue the chain while sharing a retro tech story. I enjoy playing guitar and Nirvana songs were some of my first to learn.
Next song must begin with the letter S ^-^

I've only listened to this as the ending track of the mix BLECH II: BLECHSDOTTIR, where it's been pitch shifted & adjusted in other ways slightly. It's a nice & calm track, perfect to end off a chaotic mix CD Slowdance - Jake Slazenger
(the next song should start with an E)

i'm really indecisive but here is my contribution:
this is from the piece of media that probably counts as a special interest of mine, as much as I am not really sure I want it to be. chess the musical! you might have heard of it. it's weird and I could spend literal hours talking about it, but I really like this song in particular because of how it relates to the overall themes in the story I notice relating to like, sort of absurdism? that I find really comforting. I have a lot to say about it, but that would probably be too long for here. I have rotated this musical in my brain for so long i'm getting a bit weird but I can't stop thinking about it.
[next song should start with an x? maybe? if thats too hard for people to find then maybe one starting with a]
