I am making a zine with my little ball-point pen observational drawings of pigeons that I see in the city! so far every single zine (not very many, unfortunately, I am tired. if I was less tired all the time, I would be unstoppable.) I have ever made has been about pigeons. this is because pigeons are the best animal. I am trying to overcome my fear of failure/messiness, as I have realized the reason I did so badly in school and am doing so badly in university now is that I need to fail a lot in order to learn -a lot more than other people seem to need to- and school punishes failure too harshly for me to ever really survive in there. i am going on a tangent. I am trying to try things I don't do as much -drawing in pen, observational drawing of things right in front of me, faster, less polished art, etc- to see if that does something for me. I usually just give my zines to my friends. I have a lot of friends, though. B> i don't know where I am going with this, I really need to be going to sleep. I just like talking a lot.

Omg, yess!!! I love pigeons.  I love all birds, but pigeons are really undervalued. Failure and messiness are essential to doing better and successes! I really get what you're saying about schools punishing failure too harshly, when it's a natural and essential part of the process- and arbitrary deadlines often set folx up for failure. :/ I feel like this is a good space to share works in progress and things that might not be as perfect as you want them. Keep sketching and new doing things! When you're ready to share, I'm excited to see! Love the avi, btw! |
